This waterproof led street light project is located in the Nada Seruni residential development area in Juasseh, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The biggest threat to streetlights isn't rain, but rather the combined effect of water ingress and high temperatures, leading to lamp failure. Therefore, the fixtures must employ a physical isolation design, separating the LED light source module and the power driver into separate chambers. Even if the driver fails due to overheating or aging, it won't affect the light source; maintenance only requires replacing the driver, without disassembling the entire lamp. The junction between the lampshade and the housing must use a high-temperature resistant, anti-aging silicone sealing ring. The driver power supply should be potted (with waterproof sealant) to prevent internal components from short-circuiting due to moisture. Many people believe the tighter the seal, the better, but this leads to poor heat dissipation (LEDs are heat-sensitive). Use a breather (explosion-proof valve) or a nano-waterproof breathable membrane. Electric shock protection rating: Must be Class I (Class I protection against electric shock), and grounding must be reliable.
Waterproof connectors: Cable entry points must use waterproof glands (cable sealing connectors), and a waterproof bend (U-bend) must be made after wiring to prevent rainwater from flowing into the cable.

Geometric Layout: The "Golden Ratio" of Height and Spacing

Height (H) determines visibility: typically 10-12m for main roads, 8-10m for secondary roads, and 6-8m for side roads. Principle: Higher height results in less glare, but higher maintenance costs.
Spacing (S) determines continuity: a rule of thumb is S ≈ 3H (for high uniformity requirements) to 5H (for economical use). For example, for a 10m pole, a spacing of 30-50m is recommended.

Lighting Arrangements:

Staggered arrangement: Road width 12-24m (most common).
