Broadhills Precinct 3A is a modern architectural complex. The project required an outdoor lighting solution that provided essential illumination for roadways, surrounding green belts, and pedestrian walkways, while also harmonizing with the site’s modern, minimalist architectural style and offering high energy efficiency and low maintenance costs. To meet these specific needs, ZGSM provided an outdoor lighting solution centered on LED high mast flood light.

To supplement the existing street lighting, multiple LED high mast flood lights were installed at strategic intervals—staggered relative to the street lights—around the site’s perimeter. Featuring a minimalist, modern design with a grey housing, these fixtures provide broad, uniform illumination while blending seamlessly with the white modern architecture (What Is Light Uniformity?). A carefully planned layout of staggered pole heights and multi-point coverage eliminated lighting blind spots, ensuring safety for both vehicular traffic and pedestrians at night.

The modular design of the LED high mast flood lights have effectively reduced the frequency of maintenance and replacement costs. The minimalist aesthetic of the fixtures complements the modern architecture, enhancing the visual appeal of the complex at night.

For high-mast, stadium, storage yard, or terminal applications, multiple luminaires often illuminate the same target area:

First, obtain the isolux diagram for a single luminaire at the intended mounting height to determine the coverage diameter for specific illuminance (lux) levels; rotationally symmetric luminaires produce concentric circles, while asymmetric floodlights produce ellipses or elongated shapes (What’s isolux diagram and how to use it in lighting projects?).

Group the luminaires around the high mast so that the isolux lines of adjacent lights overlap in the center of the site, while using the lowest target illuminance line to define the boundaries (e.g., minimum illuminance, or E_min, for walkways or storage yards).

For stadiums or airport aprons, evaluate the uniformity of the playing surface or ground, as well as the vertical illuminance relative to camera angles. For facade floodlighting, examine the isolux diagram on the wall surface; note that projecting light onto a facade from the ground typically yields only a fraction of the theoretical free-field value, requiring adjustments for reflection and projection angles.

Prevent overexposure: If the central isolux lines are too densely packed or the central illuminance far exceeds standards, switch to a wider beam angle, reduce power, or adjust the tilt angle—rather than simply adding more luminaires.
