The project, located at Garden Hills Residences, was initially scheduled to be completed by the end of 2019. Customers had strict energy-saving requirements, demanding a reduction in energy consumption by more than 60%. To demonstrate the luminous efficacy of lighting, ZGSM provided a corresponding report, such LM79. And ZGSM conducted an early-stage lighting simulation and explored various potential energy-saving methods. Eventually, ZGSM selected the H series 100W city street lighting, ensuring it fully complied with the M4 requirements. Furthermore, during low traffic periods in the middle of the night, the lamp brightness would be moderately reduced to save energy while still meeting lighting standards. Through these efforts, ZGSM believed that the solution could simultaneously meet the customers’ lighting and energy-saving needs. Finally, the client approved the proposal, and the actual results confirmed the correctness of their choice after the project was implemented (once the lamps were installed). Local residents have expressed high praise for the lighting scheme.

LM-80 is a standardized test method designed to evaluate the lumen maintenance of LED modules or chips under specific conditions. In the past, LED component manufacturers used separate systems to report lumen depreciation data, which led to data inconsistency and comparability issues. To address this issue, the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) developed the LM-80 standard. The LM-80 standard specifies the test procedures and conditions for long-term stable operation of LED light sources. During testing, the LED light source is placed under certain temperature and current conditions, usually a constant current and high temperature environment. Through continuous testing and regular measurement of luminous flux, the luminous flux attenuation of LED light sources can be understood. The tests usually last at least 6,000 hours, but longer tests are also possible. After the test, draw the luminous flux attenuation curve according to the obtained data.

LM-79 (IES LM-79) refers to the standard for photoelectric measurement of solid-state lighting products. It is mainly used to test the optical performance of solid-state lighting products, including luminous flux (that is, the total amount of visible light produced), luminous intensity (luminous flux density in a specific direction), color temperature, color rendering index, etc.


LM-80 (IES LM-80) refers to the life test standard of LED light source. It is mainly used to test the change of the luminous flux output maintenance rate of the LED light source over time, that is, the service life of the LED light source. Through the long-term operation test of the LED light source under specific conditions, its luminous flux attenuation can be evaluated and its life can be predicted.

Document ANSI/IES LM-79-19 is a revision of document IES LM-79-2008. It was changed to update information for evaluating the optical performance of solid-state lighting products. When referring to the LM-79 standard, we generally do not need to add the suffix 19 or 08.
